We hosted our first ladies’ friendly on Friday 12th May; it seemed appropriate that this should be against Winscombe, as the 2 clubs have a long and close association and rivalry.
Rink 2
Pauline Mabbutt, Angie Bass and Kim Wright had a close game until the 11th end when it was 9 all. Unfortunately Winscombe then picked up a 7 - a step too far for Banwell after that, with the final score 10-19 to Winscombe. Many thanks to Pauline for stepping in to play at the last minute as a guest player.
Rink 3
Belinda Butcher, Jan Davies and Wendy Coleman made a good start and were 8-2 up after 6 ends. However, it all went Winscombe’s way from there on, and the final score was 11-14 to Winscombe. Well done to Belinda who managed to play the whole match after a knee injury early on. Hope you are ok today.
Rink 5
Jenny Williams, Pam Gibbons and Sue Taylor were the star players of the afternoon, taking an early lead which they built on consistently to win 21-11. Well played ladies.
It was a very close game overall, finishing 42-44 to Winscombe, and a most enjoyable afternoon.
Our next challenge is Nailsea on Tuesday morning!
