Christmas drinks at the club

Don't forget, Mal and Chris are opening the bowls club tomorrow, Saturday 17th December, at 12.00 to get together to share some Christmas cheer. There is a barrel from Cheddar Ales which must be drunk.

Beautiful view of the club in winter, taken by Ro

Chris will be providing bar snacks (Pulled pork, brie and cranberry mini rolls, sausage rolls). If you would like to bring along a bag of snacks, crisps, nuts etc that would be appreciated.

Mal would also like to remind everyone that the club is still cash only and there is a limited float, so some small change would be appreciated.

Club members create a Nativity Scene

At a village coffee morning about a month ago, bowling club members were approached with a view to us taking part in the church nativity window display. This is basically a series of displays (windows) around the church telling the story of the nativity. Each window represents part of the Christmas story.

Chris Laycock, Ann Woodard, Maureen Purvis and Pam Gibbons had a quick chat and agreed to take part. They opted for "no room at the inn" and were told to think outside the box.

Ann came up with an idea. Mal and Harry were the carpenters, whilst the ladies put the rest together.

Here is a picture of the end result. Seeing some of the others, you can definitely say its "outside the box!"

Want to see it?

The display is open for all to walk around from Thursday 15th and will stay up until Christmas.

And finally....

Just as an aside, it's "Carols around the tower" on Saturday at 6.30pm. If anyone is still standing following our Christmas get together at the club, and would like to join villagers in getting into the Christmas sprit, mulled wine and mince pies are usually on offer.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the bar and of course singing carols later.
