Both A & B teams were involved in the penultimate league games this weekend.
The A team needed to win to remain mid table and avoid relegation, whilst a win by the B team would keep them in the promotion race until the last game of the season.
The A Team
It all seemed to be going well and fairly straightforward for the A team against RBL from Portishead until the 19th end when 10 shots were dropped across two rinks! Fortunately John Davies and his rink came back to only lose by only 6 shots and, with Barry Taylor losing by one on the last end and Phil Villis winning well, the game ended 59-52 for Banwell and an 8 points to 4 win!
The B Team
The B team, again captained by Mal Laycock, had high hopes of a win away against Wedmore in a top of the table clash. Sadly the wheels fell off the wagon with all three rinks losing, resulting in a 12-0 victory for Wedmore.
Mal Laycock and Alan Vickery’s rinks went really close losing by only two shots which on any other day and a fair wind might have given them 4 points going into the last game. The rink of Mike Nickson, Gordon Hollier, Mike Bass and Alan Cockayne however went down 37-12, resulting in a 74-45 win for Wedmore.
The B team are now in 4th place with one game to play at home against top of the table Victoria.
