Match report, week beginning 20th May

The week started with a washout for the umbrella, although we had a nice social evening instead.

Ladies friendly at home against Nailsea, 14th May.

A comprehensive win for Wendy and her team winning on all three rinks.

Over 55's away to Clarence blues, 15th May.

Words from Captain Alan Shattock.

Clarence was our latest outing in the over 55' s. Oh, dear the wheels fell from the wagon! After a bright start, ahead on most rinks, alas we ended up winning on only one rink. Well done to Barry and his team; Phil did well to secure a draw after being in the lead most of the game. A special mention goes to John Wright and his team for picking up an eight - almost a hot shot - but to no avail We went down 108 shots to 98. The points allocated were 17 to Clarence, 3 to Banwell, which was disappointing. We all tried, so well done to everyone

Allan Shattock, over 55s captain .

A team away at Burnham, 18th May.

A rain reduced game to 12 ends ended up with a win for Banwell picking up 8 points to Burnham's 4. Well done to Captain Chris and his team.

B team home to Nailsea, 18th May.

Despite the rain, having an early lunch and raffle helped, the weather cleared up enough to finish the match. However, we lost by 57-66, only picking up two points on Mal's rink. Hillary's team lost on the last end to a somewhat fortuitous deflection whilst holding for the win!

Mike Nickson, vice captain
