Match report, week ending 29th July

Over 55s at home to Winscombe Pioneers, 25th July

Cancelled by Winscombe, due to covid; rearranged for 23rd August.

A team away to Ashcombe B, 27th July

It was a shocker of a match on a rink that played like glass. No-one could come to terms with sheer speed it played at.

The air ambulance helicopter that landed on Ashcombe's top green was an odd spectacle, which forced us onto the bottom rink after it had just been played on.

All 3 rinks lost, albeit with Rob Saddler and Phil Villis putting up a sturdy fight, and 8 shots picked up on the last 3 ends by Alan Shattock's team.

B team at home to Congresbury, 27th July

At 10 ends, ready to throw in the towel with both Hilary and my rink both way behind, Alan Vickery held his rink together.

However we fought back to draw my rink. Alan Vickery won by 4 shots and Hilary lost by 6 shots.

But boy was it hot out there.

3 points gained.

This week's turnout was 19 players, basking in the sun, but attacked by a swarm of midges, ants or blackfly emerging from the green.

Dave Allen still leads but now by a single point to second place Martina who leap- frogged Angela.

Wendy, Kim and Jan Davies are in the chasing pack.

Remember, only the top 10 scores count out of the 15 available dates. This week we have two players reaching this milestone and several more next week.
