Safeguarding Update

Bowls England produce regular safeguarding bulletins so I thought I would take the opportunity and use one stone for two birds to both circulate their most recent one, for your information and highlight my role.

For those of you unaware, I am the designated safeguarding officer for the club and, as such, first point of contact for any and all safeguarding concerns, information or advice. My contact details are in the club handbook. I have a background in safeguarding and hold a current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate, which is mandatory for the role and is updated annually.

Safeguarding is not just aimed at those clubs with junior members, and/or 'adults at risk' but is there for all clubs and includes their members, potential members and also issues and concerns relating to visiting teams, other visitors and spectators.

Safeguarding Officers are currently recommended within all Bowls England affiliated clubs. but the role will become compulsory as a condition of affiliation for all clubs by 2025.
