Umbrella Rules 2024 Season
Umbrella games will be played on Monday evenings commencing as soon as possible after 6.15pm
All players must register before 6pm that evening.
Only players who have entered the Umbrella may play.
Each game will be played over 15 ends.
No points will be deducted if teams have an unequal number of players.
The competition will start the 1st week after the May Bank Holiday and will run for 15 consecutive weeks.
Additional weeks may be played if the rinks are required for friendly, league cup or
County matches, (or extreme weather at committee discretion).
The player with the highest 10 week score will be judged the winner of the competition
the best 10 week scores to count if more than 10 games played.
Less than 4 players attending – is deemed as a “Non-Match” because of lack of numbers present only, (However players who do turn up and submit a non-match score card will score 9 points).
Any match that starts and is then weather affected will be deemed to count only if at least 8 ends have been completed.
If a started game does not reach 8 ends completed it will be again deemed a non-match but no points will be awarded.
Typical match types
4 Players - 1 rink of pairs
5 Players - 1 rink with 1 pair and 1 triple
6 Players - 1 rink of triples
7 Players - 1 rink with 1 triple and 1 fours
8 Players - 1 rink of fours
9 Players - 1 rink of pairs and 1 rink with 1 pair and 1 triple
10 Players - 1 rink of pairs and 1 rink of triples
11 Players - 1 rink of triples and 1 rink with 1 pair and 1 triple
12 Players - 2 rinks of triples
(Higher numbered player rink settings are held by the Umbrella administrator.)
Scoring points will be awarded as follows:
1 point for each end won, plus;
2 points for a win up to 3 shots
3 points for a win up to 6 shots
4 points for a win up to 8 shots
5 points for a win up to 10 shots
6 points for a win over 10 shots
All score cards will be verified by the selection committee, all results and tables will be posted on the website weekly
